Oh my it's been a while again since I've posted. I'm trying to get ready for stamp camp on the 21st and thought I'd share one of our projects.

This Tissue Box cover is using the new Springtime Vintage Designer Series Papers that are in the current Occasions mini-catalog. I really like all the paper in this pack. They are all pretty. I used the instructions that are on Splitcoaststampers in the resource section.

They will update the file once a month with the new ones that have been released. The PDF contains not only a listing, but also thumbnail snapshots of them. This is a WONDERFUL tool for you. I've provided a link to the file at the top of the left side of the blog.

Fun things with MDS Designer Papers

I've been playing with My Digital Studio and have found some easy things you can do with the Designer Papers. All of these start with the DSP added as a "page layer". This option puts it as just a square on the page - you will need to double click on it and then re-size it to the desired size in the crop area that comes up. After you do that then you can follow the instructions below to make these changes.

Color change (top) - add a square punch - enlarge it to the same size as your DSP layer and place it directly on top of the DSP. Lower the "opacity" to achieve the color that you want - this one is at 20%. You will see the DSP through the color which will give the illusion that the DSP is colored. (right side is original DSP)

Plaid (middle) - start with the stripe of your choice and size it as desired. Add an additional "page layer" (I haven't tried it with a different color here yet) - lower the opacity of the second one to 50% and rotate it 90%. Place the second one on top of the first one. Double click and re-size the second one as needed to fit. (right side is original DSP)

Negatives - (bottom) This is from the Night and Day DSP which is all black & white images. Take one of the black images - click on it - this opens the "photo" options on the right side. Click on "photo effects" - choose "negative". (left side is original DSP)

I can't wait to try these on some actual projects.

My daughter did a wonderful job on the wall in her bedroom. She used one of the Stampin Up Definitely Decorative vinyl wall art and some beautiful canvas prints of her family. I LOVE the way it turned out!

With the new catalog coming out on July 1st, it's time to clear a path for the new stuff.

There are lots of things on the lists this year - more so than usual because of the color renovation that was announced earlier. Keep this in mind as you look at the lists. Also as you look at the Definitely Decorative lists - keep in mind that each "image" will have multiple item numbers associated with it according to sizes and colors that were offered. Hey did you think that My Digital Studio is just for scrapbooking??? If you did take a look at these cute cards that I made. I used one of the new downloads called Summer Splendor Designer Series Paper (#121067) to create the four card fronts in MDS. There are 6 gorgeous designer papers in the file. After I printed out the card fronts on Whisper White, I created a hybrid card that using punches, ribbons and brads.

Change is coming!

Well, I'm really not sure how I feel about this yet, but sometimes change is good. Stampin' Up! announced earlier this month that they are going to be changing the core colors . They are retiring some of the current colors, keeping some of the current In-Colors, bringing back some of the former In-Colors and introducing 5 new core colors. Whew - that makes me tired just thinking about it. In addition the In-colors will now last for two years, instead of one. The new In-colors will be announced at a later date. So beginning with the new catalog, July 1st, there will now be 40 core colors assembled in four color "collections" and 5 new In-Colors. Next year 5 more In-Colors will be introduced for a two year life span. Stampin' Up! is striving to keep up with current color trends and the way they have structured the color rotations will make it easier to do that. I think this will be a good thing, but I'm still crying over saying "goodbye" to some of my favorite colors.

The new colors will be available with the new catalog. You still have until the end of June to stock up on your favorite colors before they are gone forever. Here's a chart of the new colors and a chart of the colors that will be retiring.

Quilt Swap

Have you ever wondered what you could do with your Big Shot besides make cards and other paper crafts??? Did you know that the steel-ruled dies will cut 50 different types of materials??? Including things like thin metal & cork. Well, that also includes just regular fabric.

I recently did a quilt block swap using the Big Shot dies. Here are the three blocks that I did. Unfortunately, I couldn't do the "quilting" part due to sewing machine issues. I was going to applique around each of the items and hopefully when I get the issues resolved I can find the time to do that. I think that they came out really cute though. Hope you like them.

This one uses Build-A-Bear, Scallop Circles and Serif Essentials Alphabet dies. You can't tell from this picture, but the bears are cut from a fuzzy type of fabric.

This one uses Stars and Serif Essentials Alphabet dies.

This one is probably my favorite because I love the bright colors. It uses the Flower Layer #3 and the Stampin' Up! exclusive die - Beautiful Butterflies.

Hope you enjoy seeing these. I just wish that I could have finished them out with the quilting ---- well - that's a project for the future.

Well - it's a new year and I'm still behind!! Sorry that I haven't posted in a while. Wish that I could say that I've been busy stamping and scrapbooking, but I haven't. I did do a couple of cards similar to this one. I really like doing this flower. I'll try to give you a tutorial on it sometime soon.

Well, it's Christmas Eve and we have lots of snow outside! It is so pretty! (I got irritated at someone earlier who drove down our street and made tire tracks!) Fortunately, I live in West Texas and it will probably all be gone by noon!! I can enjoy it this morning and still finish up last minute shopping this afternoon!

:) Gotta love the weather here!

I wanted to share the card I've created using the My Digital Studio software. I've ordered some online and will pick them up locally later today to send out (can you tell that I'm running late!!). I'll be putting these in the mail and hoping that everyone enjoys them. I loved doing this card with all of our family members on it. I've tried doing the Christmas letter, but it always seems that those don't go out until January (if I'm lucky). Hope you like it too.

Well the holidays are here and I like to make holiday cards. I made this one for a swap on SCS. Hope you like it.

The background is sponged. I used Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Pink Passion, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, and Elegant Eggplant. I rolled the wheel on a window sheet. It was a little tricky getting the brown for the path in just the right spot. I think it turned out pretty cute.

I'm working on Christmas cards now for a class during the week of Thanksgiving (yes I know - I'm crazy!). I'll post those when I get them figured out.

Well, I've been playing with the new My Digital Studio and let me tell you ---- it's fun! I'm working on cards and scrapbooks. I even turned one card into a "movie" that I could e-mail to my GrandDaughter for her birthday today. Tell me how you like it.

I'm hoping that this will help improve my creativity and expand my horizons in design. Since I don't have to mess up a lot of cardstock and designer paper to get just the right look, it should be better. Cause you know that I hate wasting a lot of paper. And those of you that have seen me struggle to put together a simple scrapbook page, ought to know that this is going to be wonderful for me to design BEFORE I cut! I'm really excited about it.

This is one of the Definitely Decorative items. I took the saying and put it on the glass of a shadowbox. It took me three tries to get the insides the way I liked it so that you could read the writing on the glass. I finally got it right. I put Pumpkin Pie cardstock in the background which helped to make the writing stand out too. I hope you like it.

Plans for the Fall

WOW - it seems like a really LONG time (and it really has been) since I've had any sort of class or workshop. So I'm making up for it soon. I'll be doing an Open House on the Sept. 19 and a Stamp Camp on Oct. 3rd. I'm also planning a Christmas card class and hopefully a Christmas scrapbook class for Nov & Dec. I don't have anything firm on those yet. I'll try to post some pictures as soon as I get some of these prototypes done. Keep watching.

Swap Cards

Well, I finally got a chance to do some stamping. These are cards that I did for a new catalog swap on SCS. I hope you like them. As I look at these side by side, I realize that I'm "Layout Challenged" and I need to branch out in my layout designs. Even though they are all different, I think that there are two basic layouts here. I didn't set out for it to be that way, but......... (guess I need to spend more time looking through the SCS galleries? :o) )

When I made this one, I was thinking of my three beautiful Granddaughters - Princess Haylee, Princess Isabelle, and (coming soon) Princess Jadyn. This new stamp set is "Princess Time"

This one made me realize that Fall is just around the corner. I normally do "bright" colors so this was different for me to work with. It shows three of the new In-Colors: Dusty Druango, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede. This new stamp set used here is "Razzle Dazzle". This one also uses the new "Modern Label" punch and the new Sizzix magnetic mover and shaper.

This one is just a simple, elegant anytime card. This has the new in-color Bermuda Bay cardstock and polka dot ribbon. This new stamp set is "Of the Earth" which is a Hostess set.

This one is to honor those that are serving our country and to remind them they are in our prayers. The new stamp sets used are "Courage" and "Service and Sacrifice". The center image piece was done using the Sizzix Top Note die - cut once, turned 90 degrees and cut again. I really like the final cut.

Oh WOW! How long has it been since I posted - much less stamped!! Well - THAT'S too long! I am so excited about what I've seen in the new catty. I love the new In-Colors. Here are a couple of cards that I did this week. One of them is for my SCS Secret Sister's birthday and the other is for a monthly SCS swap. I love how you can use the same colors, papers and stamp sets, but have the cards come out differently. The yellow color is the new Crushed Curry and the designer paper is Razzleberry Lemonade.

The stamp set is also a new one. It's called "Circle Circus". I really like it. There are several circle patterns that are really cute in it. The "Thinking of You" card also uses the new "Teeny Tiny Wishes" stamp set and the new "Modern Label" punch and matching Stampin' Up! exclusive Sissix Mover and Shaper die.

Been Away

I've seen these onesie cards on SCS and have been wanting to try one. I embossed the sailboat after I had pieced it together. I wasn't real sure if it would work or not, but it turned out great! It really made the pastel colors pop out.

Well, I finally had time to get the next card in my monthly swap done. I wasn't too happy with it at first, but when it was all said and done, I really like it. I wish that I had found the "Tea Party" paper before the end of the catalog. I hope you like it. I don't think you can see it very well, but there is dazzling diamonds on the pink petals of the flower.

Well - as usual I'm always late getting things posted. The "Last Chance" lists for retiring stamp sets and accessories from the current Spring 2009 catalog were announced on Monday. Unfortunately - I'm just now getting them posted for you.

I couldn't figure a way to post the actual list where it could be read easily. You will be asked to choose a demonstrator. If you don't have one already - please choose me (Pam Gardner). Flower Card

I like this card so much that I have done it for several things - a swap, my secret sisters and even my Mother-in-law for her birthday. She liked it too.

I got the idea for the card from the tutorial on SCS for a Flower Pot Card. That one the flowers pull out a card from the inside. It's really cute, but I changed it to just be the front of a regular card.

I'm sorry for the poor quality of the picture. I used the Big Shot Daisy die, the lace scallop punch, the paper crimper, rose gingham ribbon, and pink & purple rhinestone brads (don't remember is they are Fire or Ice sets). The papers are Pretty in Pink, Pink Passion, YoYo Yellow, Barely Banana, Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point Designer Series print.

New Card

This is a new card that I did this week for a swap and to send to my secret sister. I really like the way it turned out. I used the shaving cream technique on the butterfly, which is an exclusive Stampin Up Sissix die.

Sometimes I get a little frustrated with the shaving cream technique because I want all of the cardstock pieces to look the same after I'm done, but just like all butterflies don't look alike neither do all pieces of shaving cream cardstock. I did about 20 pieces for this project and none of them were even close to being alike. I did figure out this time though that if I don't have all the color on the second piece that I wanted - well, I just fixed a new mound of shaving cream with just the colors I want to add and dip it again. That really worked good and I was pleased with the results.

Hope you enjoy this card. I will probably be using this for a class sometime soon (no I don't have it scheduled yet).

Another card for my Big Sis!

I sent this one to my SCS Big Sis in February. Believe it or not - it's made from an envelope! That's right a regular envelope that you send your greeting cards in. Just cut off 1 1/4" from one end, stamp your main image(s) on the big end of the envelope, run it through the crimper (note: your images might be a little distorted now, but that's ok!) - don't crimp the small piece you cut off, finish it out with ribbons and other embelishments as desired. The part that you cut off makes the top of the card. You just slide it over the top of the crimped part.

You can make a pull out card with card stock starting with a base of 4" X 4 1/4 (I'll have to double check this size - will edit later). I didn't do much embellishing on my inside card as I didn't want it to poke out too much. I hope you enjoy this card. It's fun to make and really easy!

Breaking News!!!

Well, I just got home from a 4 day trip to Arizona and was greeted with breaking news from Stampin' Up!

First up is that beginning in July 2009 - SU will return to an annual catalog instead of the current bi-annual catalog system. They made this decision based on the current economic times and feedback from the demonstrators. There will be 3 mini's per year - each lasting 4 months. There will be additional hostess sets in the minis each time so that you can have additional choices when you hostess a workshop during that time period. The Decor Elements will be a separate catalog and will be published twice a year. The mini's will be used to introduce new products throughout the year.

Also, based on demo and customer feedback, they will be discontinuing double mounted sets in the future (with a couple of exceptions). Those sets that are currently double mounted will remain that way until they retire. Also the larger alpha sets and those sets in the kits will continue to be double mounted. They had originally double mounted them in an effort to reduce costs for these larger sets, but felt this was now the right thing to do. They are continuing to analyse what can be done to help with the price of the larger sets. I'll keep you posted.

There has also been an announcement that sometime later in the year, we will be offering some sort of Digital scrapbooking software. This was announced at the Leadership conference and I don't have any details yet about it. I'll keep you posted!

Finally a sneak peek at a page for the scrapbook class on January 31!! It's midnight and I'm headed to bed otherwise I'd finish out the second page. That's for tomorrow This page uses some of the new Raspberry Tart Designer Series paper, as well as the Kiwi Kiss Designer Series prints. This stamp set is new too. It's called Petal Pizzazz. For class, you'll be able to choose your own papers and colors from what I have available. As always, you are free to interpret the sketch however you want. You can bet your last dollar that this is nowhere near the original sketch that I was using.

Well I have it in my hot little hands and it's GREAT!!! I'm so excited to show you all the new things that are there this Spring. New stamps, new papers, a new circle cutter, new decor elements, new Sissix dies and more!!! WOOHOO!! I'll be setting up a time that you can come check it out for yourself.

I apologize for not getting the information up about the scrapbook class that I'll be holding on the 29th. I had way to much scheduled for last weekend and not enough weekend to do it all. Well.....I have an extra day this weekend and that is top on my priority list. I will have a picture up on the blog of what we'll be doing and the information to you by Monday evening.

Star Gift Bag

I thought you might enjoy this cute little gift bag. This is just a plain small gift bag that you can find just about anywhere. I think I got this one at Hobby Lobby. I cut a piece of designer paper to fit the front of the gift bag and then made a star to go on it. No the star really isn't that hard to do. All you need is either a patterned paper of your choice or vellum, a coordinating solid color cardstock and both sizes of the SU tag punches. I'm sorry that I don't have step-by-step pictures for you. I'll try to do those pictures this weekend and edit the post.

First punch out 16 small tag punches from a piece of cardstock that you want to use for the "outline". Set aside the punched out piece to use elsewhere.

Next center the punched opening in the "window" of the large tag punch and punch out 16 large tag "frames"

Take 4 of the frames and form a cross on the other colored cardstock (or designer paper or vellum) and glue it down using the 2-way glue pen.

Take 4 more frames and offset them in the corners of the cross. Glue these down too.

Now cut out the "square" of each of the tags. This will leave the point of the stars. This is the tricky part, but if you just look for the point of the stars you'll be able to figure it out.

Repeat the steps above to make a second star.

Mount one star offset on top of the other using Stamping Dimensionals.

You can punch a 1 3/8" circle punch to embellish the center of the star. You could also use any other type of embellishment that you wish for the center.

Now you can finish your bag by mounting it on the designer paper.

Gold Christmas Card

Here's an elegant card that I really love. It uses the brushed gold and the very vanilla cardstock. The ink on the gold cardstock is metallic gold. The image of Mary, Joseph & Jesus and the sentiment are embossed with gold embossing powder. The star is cut from the brushed gold cardstock and embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder. The focal image is the "Holy Triptych" located on page 43 of the Fall/Winter SU catalog. The swirl in the background is from "Baroque Motifs" on page 120 of the F/W Catalog. The sentiment has been retired, but this would also look very nice with a simple greeting, such as the "Season's Greetings" in the "Many Merry Messages" stamp set on page 139 of the F/W Catalog. The corners of the focal image where made with the ticket punch.

One Layer Card

This has been a pretty quiet week. I found some time to actually get in my craft room for some much needed cleaning. I didn't make a whole lot of headway, but at least the path is wider now. I still didn't get time to do any stamping, so I thought I'd share a one layer card that I did last year. I really like this card. It was easy and really sparkles with the dazzling diamonds on the snowflakes and the embossed greeting. Sometimes one layer cards can be a challenge, but can be just as beautiful as those that have multiple layers and take hours to complete.

I hope you enjoy this card and challenge yourself to create a one layer one also.

Split Negative

Well, I haven't had much time for stamping or scrapbooking lately, but I wanted to share a card that I did in the past with you.

This is the split negative technique. It's really easy to do. You emboss on colored cardstock with white ink and on white cardstock with your choice of color. This can be using either colored embossing powder or colored SU Craft ink and clear embossing powder. Once the embossing has been done both images need to be cut in exactly the same spot. In this instance, the tree was cut on the diagonal. You could also cut perpendicular or paralell through the middle of the tree. When you have the two parts, line them up so they match - use double sided tape on the back to keep them together - mount on a matching piece of cardstock and finish your card as desired.

It's that easy! Hope you enjoy this technique.

We had family pictures made this past weekend and I just had to share my grandbabies with you. Haylee is 13 months old and Isabelle is 4 1/2 months old. They are both so adorable. Don't you agree?

Haylee was more interested in the toys than the camera and Isabelle was more interested in Haylee. We had lots of fun laughing at the girls - not to mention laughing at the funny adults trying to make the little girls laugh! All in all, we got some good pictures.

WOW! I actually created a Blog!!!! How cool is this? I'll try to keep up with it regularly - at least once a week maybe more often than that. To start with though, I'm going to say once a week! Please bear with me as I learn how to do this "blog" thing! Guess I'll have to ask the kids!

In my blog you'll be able to find fun stamping projects, new techniques, Stampin' Up specials and lots more cool stuff. You might even see some pictures of my cute little granddaughters!!

For those that don't know me, I am an Independent Stampin' Up Demonstrator. I love to scrapbook and make cards and gifts with the Stampin' Up products. I also love other forms of crafting too, including quilting. I wish that I had more time to do it all, but work calls. I try to have classes too, so keep an eye out for upcoming class times.
